INGOTs Linux Desktop Training Certification
About the INGOTs
The INGOTs are high quality and progressive certificates designed to promote assessment of the technical skills needed to operate popular office software.
The goal of the INGOTs is to provide an equivalent in ICT of the high expectations that we take for granted in written communication, and to enable students to learn about global ICT developments from first hand experience, giving them the potential to make useful contributions back to the community.

Initiatives
- Moodle in NZ (http://schools.elearning.ac.nz/moodle/) - This is an initiative to spread Moodle amongst teachers in NZ. There is also a link on the front page to the Open Source Courseware Initiative New Zealand [1] (http://www.elearning.ac.nz/). Open Education Software
Open Source Software for using in education can be found in the Open Education Software!
Open Source Victoria (http://www.osv.org.au/) has created a FOSS catalog for education (http://www.cybersource.com.au/about/education_FOSS_catalog.pdf) (12.5 Mb PDF) or the Free Software for Schools Catalog variant here.
Open Access movement
Open Access movement (http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/fos/fosblog.html) - this is an initiative to provide free and open peer-reviewed research content on the web to everyone. It is a movement designed to break the monopoly that large publishers have over access to research content and introduce freedom of access and competition into the research publishing paradigm. An extensive directory to these resources is available in the Open Access guide (http://www.earlham.edu/~peters/fos/guide.htm#fos)
Case Studies and Best Practice
What are you doing to teach linux and OSS to your school or community? Let's share success stories and try and build a resource for educators across the country. Let's share curriculum and teaching and learning materials.. Open education is open content. Case studies
Moodle and LAMS Engagement Party
Martin Dougiamas the creator of Moodle (http://moodle.org) gave a presentation to James Dalziel and the LAMS (http://www.lamsinternational.com/) folk at Macquarie University today. Looks like the two most exciting pieces of software in the e-learning space will soon be working in partnership. Moodle has been on my servers and in my classrooms for a few years now---LAMS will be running there real soon. You need this software--more work for teachers at first (of course) but huge benefits to learners. --Geoffrey 03:13, 21 May 2005 (EST)
4 years of Linux Desktops at our School
We have been using Linux desktops for four years now for all of our core computer lessons. We are loving every day of it - including the challenges. Our FOSS education solution is as unique as every school is unique but there will be many common threads - check out this promo (http://www.lorien.com.au/LINUX/THELAB/LinuxSchoolWeb.pdf) (case study). --Stuart 22:21, 23 Jun 2006 (EST)
